Ingredients

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream full-fat recommended; frozen yogurt or dairy-free works too
  • 1/2 cup orange syrup made from orange juice concentrate, orange soda syrup, or reduced fresh orange juice with sugar
  • 4 cups chilled orange soda sparkling orange mineral water for a less sweet option
  • 1 cup whipped cream coconut whipped cream for dairy-free
  • 1 teaspoon fresh orange zest
  • 4 slices fresh orange for garnish
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur optional, replace part of orange soda for boozy version

Instructions

  • Place serving glasses in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to chill.
  • Prepare orange syrup: if using juice concentrate, dilute slightly with cold water; if using fresh juice, reduce with a bit of sugar until thick. Chill until ready to use.
  • Add one generous scoop of vanilla ice cream into each chilled glass.
  • Pour orange syrup gently over the ice cream so it drips down the sides, creating a marbled effect.
Pouring orange soda over vanilla ice cream for creamsicle float
  • Slowly pour chilled orange soda into each glass until nearly full, pouring slowly to preserve the layered look.
  • Top with whipped cream, piping or spooning for a decorative finish.
  • Sprinkle with fresh orange zest and garnish with a thin orange slice on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a boozy twist, replace 1/4 cup of the orange soda with orange liqueur. For dairy-free, use coconut milk ice cream and coconut whipped cream. Serve floats immediately after assembly to preserve the texture. Pre-scoop ice cream into glasses and freeze for quick party assembly. Syrup can be made 3 days in advance, whipped cream can be made up to 24 hours ahead.
