  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room-temperature butter for a creamier texture.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Can substitute with other extracts if needed.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies Festive pop of flavor.
  • Additional powdered sugar for dusting Dust before serving for a festive look.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the peppermint extract.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until well combined.
  • Fold in the crushed peppermint candies.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then dust with additional powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container at room temperature. They taste even better the next day as the flavors meld. For a twist, you can drizzle melted chocolate on top or add citrus zest for a different flavor.
