  • 1 can crushed pineapple, undrained (20 oz)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded coconut Optional for added texture
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Optional for added crunch
  • to taste whipped cream For serving, optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Pour the crushed pineapple with its juice into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the pineapple.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix.
  • Optionally, sprinkle shredded coconut and chopped nuts on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding some fresh lime juice to the pineapple or using a Bundt pan for a different presentation. The cake also freezes well!
